How seaworthy are inflatable boats?

We have been around inflatable boats for many years now and although the boat accident rate in traditional boats seems to rise every year it is very seldom you hear of an accident in an inflatable boat. This is because inflatable boats are constructed in a different format  than traditional aluminium, wooden  and fibreglass boats.

It is said that inflatable boats are more seaworthy than traditonal boats. We put this down to the fact that inflatable boats are now made with air filled multiple sections in the hull, which means if you have the misfortune to hit a rock the hull is only damaged in the section that has the impact, which means you will stay afloat and you will possibly be able to come back into port safely depending on where you are.

Also the materials used in making an inflatable boat have improved considerably over the years and are as tough as they can make them. Below is a photo showing the robust PVC coated material that is used for making our Ocean Inflatables.

Coupled with this the boats tend to be used closer inland which would lower the danger.

Our boats carry a 5 year warranty on the hulls and a 3 year warranty on the seams. The seams are manually welded to ensure accuracy and integrity on every Ocean inflatable boat.

Now is the time to buy your inflatable boat to save money and get them while the dollar is strong.

We hold a great range and have the model and style to suit you or your family. With summer coming an inflatable boat is a great thing to take away on holiday. You can out it in the boot or on the roof rack and when you arrive at your destination you can be up and running in just 10 minutes.

As mentioned above the boats are very seaworthy and robust for our New Zealand conditions.

    Dear Sirs

The email address on your website does not work.

I am in Whangaparaoa, Auckland and am very interested in one of your boats in the 3.6-4.2 metre range which I would like to use for fishing with my two small sons – say up to 500m from the shore.

Please can you quote on supply of the boat with the following (please quote prices separately):

    1 additional seat
    Fitted dolly wheels
    Boat cover
    4 x rod holders
Anchor and chain with 50m rope including storage box on the boat
    1 x under-seat storage compartments
    Any other recommended accessories

I intend to fit a small motor to the boat but would want to purchase this locally in order to get the backup and service support.

I will also purchase a trailer to use to transport the boat.
